Textbook buyback company MyBookBuyer.com has taken lessons learned from reviewing more than two hundred scholarship essays and compiled a list of the top ten ways to win a scholarship essay contest.
Over the past several years, MyBookBuyer.com has become an important resource for college students who need to sell books for cash at the end of the semester. This year, the company added to the list of services it provides to students, launching the Textbooks for a Year Scholarship Essay Contest, a biannual award designed to provide winning students with enough to pay for textbooks for an entire year.
More than two hundred students from dozens of colleges and universities across the country entered the Spring 2010 contest. In addition, over two dozen essays have already been submitted for the Fall 2010 scholarship, which has a deadline of October 31, 2010. In reviewing all the essays, MyBookBuyer was able to identify qualities that separated the best essays from the rest.
With the economy still down and the cost of education continuing to go up, all scholarships are becoming more and more competitive all the time. With the help of MyBookBuyer's essay-writing tips, students stand a much better chance of receiving some much-needed help with the high price of college.
The tips include advice on paying attention to detail, strategies for planning out an essay before writing it, and tips on revision, in addition to several other guidelines for writing a winning essay.
The list is just one more way that MyBookBuyer is working to help students better afford the cost of tuition and textbooks. In addition to giving students cash for books, the site hopes the advice will help some students to win scholarships like the Textbooks for a Year Scholarship essay contest and help reduce the financial burden of school.
